Finishing touches and the grand finale.

Everything must come to an end, those are some wise words. And as with everything else, design is not the exception.

This is the last week of the project and I can’t help but to be a little sad about it. Probably more of a bittersweet flavor (because I really want to rest), but thinking about all the things that I learned, all the people I got to know better, all the things I lived and all the things that happened and, well everything. It was good. It was an over all good experience.

Thinking that it’s over and that it may never be this good again brings fear and nostalgia, but endings are a part of life and one must learn to live with them, good and bad. Hopefully, the future stays bright.

Back to the project, this week we fully dedicated to the making of the video.

At first we tried to use some of the tools proposed by the teacher, but they became too problematic and we decided to look for other tools that would allow us to get the same results but much easier.

That’s how we found a platform of videomaking that allowed all of us to edit the video (unlike the others), of course it had its limitations too, but nothing serious.

That’s how we passed all of the days of, not only the last week of the project, but the semester. And we came with something that we liked and represented well the initial script we had:

“We present Cayucool, the new way to safeguard life during floods.

With Cayucool we want to change the organization of the community so that they can manage their own shelters and be resilient to situations that endanger the community.

Macuspana Tabasco is one of the areas most affected by the floods that occur each year, many people lose their homes and belongings and are forced to emigrate far from their homes to find a place to spend the nights

In this project we seek to guarantee a decent place to stay and feel safe during these situations.

Our shelters are an affordable and sustainable home that dares to innovate through its compact and floating modality that allows you to take refuge in a space close to your home and is available at any time. In addition, thanks to its water catchment system, its floating rest system and orchard, it makes it a comfortable and self-sufficient option.

Our team is made up of 3 EDINBA students whose interest in helping and generating a positive impact on the community is reflected on the ideation of unconventional but accessible solutions for people who need it.
Don’t expect neck-deep water to help.
Help us float with Cayucool.”

As for the learnings, well I learned to make a video, a cool video.

But, since this is my last entry on this blog about this project it feels kinda sad just talking about the cool learnings of making a video.

How do one summarize the learnings of a whole semester?

I think writing a blog is a good way. I can see how much I learned and growed just reading at the blog. I am thankful for this oportunity.

Still, I would like to take a moment to pause and remember each tool, each lesson, each moment of realization, each succesful moment and failure too, those are the learnings of this semester: learning how to well-structure a problem, learning how to make things differently, learning to let got, learning to enjoy the ride, learning the value of a team and good teamwork…

Over all, learning how to make a complex design projet for the first time and not die trying (even if there were times I for sure thought I would).

The end.
